…that I adore turning to a new year. I love it!! New Year’s resolutions? Sign me up! Making lots of lofty goals- some of which aren’t even remotely possible? Love it!

I think it’s the adventurer in me(some might say that’s ALL that’s in me) that loves change, loves to embark on something new, loves the anticipation of what’s to come. I do- I love all of that! And so, as we are on the brink of a new year, I am sitting down tonight to write out my goals for this coming year.

What are some of yours? Don’t be so silent out there- I see my blog stats- I know people are out there reading this. C’mon people! Speak up!

I’ll start you off with some of my personal goals:

Spend lots more time really enjoying my kids- like really getting them to laugh and just soaking that sound in. They will continue to laugh throughout the years, but the kid-voice will be gone one day.

Get rid of those last few pounds of baby weight. That’s right- I admit it. Bella will be 2 in March and I still haven’t lost everything she added to me. :)

Along those lines- I really want to put myself back on my own list this year. Does that make sense? Sleep more, listen to what God has to say to me this year, you know?

Blog more, build up my photography business, take more pics of my already over-photographed kids and family. Be in more of the pics. Do more of the crafty things that I love to do.

Leave a comment! Tell me what you’re up to this new year. And happy new year everyone!!!

Christmas day and its vast array of emotions are behind us now. We had so much fun this year- the kids’ excitement, their joy in buying their own gifts for people with allowance money, the food, time with family, time with my hubby. It’s already been incredible- and we get to have Chris here all the way through this week. I love it. And I’ll eventually post pictures.

But this year, I am especially reminded of how hard this time of year can be for many. I have several friends walking through very trying times and I recall that seeing all of the joy on everyone else’s faces can rub salt in raw wounds.

The first 2 years after my mom died were extremely difficult. I wanted to feel the joy of the season, but all I felt was how cold and dead everything outside looked. It felt bleak in my heart as well and I remember just how desperately I longed for the holidays to be over, and for spring to bring new life back into our surroundings. And for people to stop seeming so jolly! I was completely heartbroken.

So this post is dedicated to anyone out there who may be walking through a trial of any kind right now. A long time ago I placed my hope and faith in Jesus. Now I can look back on years of challenging times- moments of utter heartbreak and deep pain- and tell you that if you trust in Him, you will not be destroyed by the challenges you are facing. Sometimes, even if nothing makes sense and the situations in your life really are as terrible as they feel, you just have to hold on to the glimmer of faith you have left and WAIT. God is not done with you- just hold on tight.

I’m celebrating this time in my life. It is the spring that came after such a hard winter. Thank you God for always bringing new life where death once was. You really are as faithful as You say You are in the bible. :)

Merry Christmas everyone. Let’s begin a new year, shall we?

I’m not MIA, just super busy. I don’t have time to update on our personal lives- but I did want to share a couple of things.

First, if you are like me and you love to read- then you may feel the same way I do about children’s literature these days. I’ve found that when I am shopping for books, it is challenging to wade through all the disney princesses and dinosaur books to find books of real substance. Have you ever wanted more for your childrens’ minds? I won’t rant and rave about it, but I get so sick of some of the complete rubbish that is printed for children. I mean- let’s start when they are young, train them to really think about things, and call them up to grow in wisdom and insight- starting from as soon as they can think by themselves. So how does this involve reading?

My friend Deb posted this list on her FB status a while back, and I just have to share it with you. It’s a link to a pdf, so I hope you don’t have any problems getting to it. If you do- email me or leave a comment and I will send you the file via email. Not sure where Deb found this list, but it’s a fantastic list of children’s classics that will help you as you look to fill your children’s libraries with meatier books to read. Some of them may be too old for your kiddos, but I’ve found that my kids even like to hear me read the ones that are way above their heads. Check the list out and give it a whirl. Less tv, less video gaming, more reading. :)

And lastly, here are just a few of the pics from all of my recent gigs.

Merry Christmas. More later when I can catch my breath!
