Actually I loved the cooler temps after the shower today. It gets so hot here in the summer- every single year of my life I have sworn that I wasn’t meant to live in Texas. Yet I am a southern girl, through and through.
I love being a mom for many reasons. Watching two little lives unfolding as they grow, growing up into parenthood, all the cute moments, blah, blah, blah. But today I especially love being a mom because I got to run out into a parking lot in the pouring rain and enjoy every second of it.
We were at Ikea and it was just pouring. I stood outside under the awning with both the kids in the shopping cart for at least ten minutes waiting for it to clear up. The kids wanted to get down and splash in the puddles, so finally I just went for it. That’s right folks- I took off at a full sprint with my two kids in the basket of a shopping cart and they screamed like children do while I smiled like an idiot. Then when we got in the car, soaking wet, we all laughed until our sides hurt. The ride home was equally silly, but I won’t bore you with details.
Any parent knows that there aren’t many sounds in the world more beautiful than your own child’s laughter. Today I was blessed with lots of it. What a beautiful day.
