A very scary night…

Sometimes I go to a movie by myself.  Yes, I do.  And I usually love it.  Just getting to be by myself is something worth writing about, and to get to watch a good movie at the same time- well, I just really love it.  Or at least I loved it before last night.  From now on I probably won’t ever go it alone.

I went to see “The Time Traveler’s Wife.”  I invited some friends at the very last minute, but noone could come.  The movie was ok, but I ended up having a very scary night.  A man came into the theater about 10 minutes late and I thought he sat down with some friends because he was talking quite loudly, saying “What did I miss?  Is it good?”  I was sitting in the middle of the theater (there were probably only 10 people in the whole place) and he was sitting over on the right side section.  As the movie went on I noticed him staring at me, and he kept on making commentary about the movie.  It was super annoying, but noone said anything to him.  Again- I thought he was sitting with people he knew.

Then about an hour into the movie, he got up and moved to my row, two seats down from me.  The minute he sat down, my heart started pounding and I felt the very spirit of God telling me to RUN.  I waited to see if I was just being chicken, but then that man started pointing his cell phone towards me, making the screen light up so he could see me.  He was mumbling things to himself and then started scratching all over his arms and upper back.  I was so freaked out, so I waited until he seemed a little more engrossed in the movie and slipped out of my row as quietly and quickly as I could.

Once I got to the back of the theater, I started jogging to the door and the man realized I had gotten up.  I heard him say quite loudly, “where did she go?”  Once I got out into the hall I took off running and then he came out of the theater and said, “Miss! Wait!” and started following me.  Needless to say, I didn’t wait around to see what he wanted.  I almost knocked a couple of people over and thankfully made it to my car before he came out of the theater.  I stayed there a few minutes because there were so many people in the parking lot and because I didn’t want him to see me drive away.  When he didn’t come outside I tore out of there and sped home.

Ughghghh!  This was so creepy.  There was something wrong with that man, whether or not he intended to harm me.  I won’t be going to movies by myself anymore after that.  And I will be carrying mace from now on, so don’t sneak up on me.  :)  I’m so thankful that I left exactly when I did.  I was pretty shaken up when I got home, but am doing much better now.  Crazy!  I’ve never run so fast in my life…

I think it’s time to find some good karate classes to sign up for!
