And now for the cool story.

I have a bible that has seen me through the lowest of lows and the highest of highs in life.  (Well technically it’s the Word of God in the bible that has seen me through, but you know what I mean.  Right now I’m talking about this one particular bible.)  My parents gave it to me in highschool and by the time I got out of college it had literally fallen apart.  It’s all marked in with notes from different valleys or mountains that I’ve been through, as well as with notes from sermons that have shaped me into who I am today.  I love this bible.  And I love that my parents gave it to me.

When Chris and I were dating, he got it re-bound for me.  When a bible, or any book for that matter, is re-bound, it uses a little bit of the inner margin because they have to re-sew the spine.  So, since that time I have used a different bible- for fear of having that one fall apart again- this time without a way to repair it.  Well, two Sundays ago I noticed that Chris had brought it to church with us.  I remember thinking at the time how much I love that bible.  And I thought it made it home with us too.

Out of the blue, yesterday I got a message on facebook from a stranger who lives in Oklahoma asking me if my bible was missing.  How weird, I thought.  This has to be some kind of scam.  (What kind of scam would that be though?  Were they going to ask for ransom money for my bible?)  But sure enough, after searching high and low- I realized that this person really did know where my bible was.  Here’s exactly what she wrote in that message:

“My parents found a Bible with the name Kerri Covington on Parker St. in Plano, Tx. Let me know if it’s you, and I’ll get you in contact with them”

So I sent her a message back and sure enough- her parents had my bible.

When Chris and I visited a church two weeks ago, he must have unknowingly left the bible on top of the car after he helped wrangle the kids into the car.  Amazingly, the bible stayed on top of our car all the way from Frisco, traveling at well over 50 mph down Preston, and didn’t come off until the intersection of Parker and Preston.  Unbelievable!!!  (But it is in fact true.)

So the couple who found the bible were on the way home from church and saw it in the middle of the road and made a u-turn to go pick it up.  The wife sensed that it was a very special bible to someone, with all the notes in it and what not, so the woman called every “Covington” in the Plano directory!!!!  She didn’t find me that way, so I guess her daughter decided to look me up on facebook.  And they found me!   Amazing!!!

All I have to say is that God is amazing.  So stinkin’ amazing.  He is the good Shephard and I am one of his sheep.  He is the ultimate seeker of our hearts, and I am in awe.
