Long Time!
Well, it’s been ages since I have written anything and I thought I’d add a post to say hello.
Things are going well here in P-town. We are so very excited to say that we are finally home owners! We started looking in late November and closed on our house on February 1st. Right now, we have about half of all of our belongings at the house, and the rest of our essential-to-everyday-living stuff is here with us in our apartment. Any of you who know me know how much I despise living out of boxes, so we are going to shorten our goal of moving out from the beginning of March to this coming weekend.
I have to just say thank you Lord for our house. This is something Chris and I have been dreaming about since we got married, and even more so since having Amai almost four years ago. I often referred to each of our apartments as the “Training Ground”, because of how much faith and patience living in apartments has taught me. It has not been easy, but I am so enormously thankful that I have been able to stay home with our kids this whole time. To that end, it has been so worth it. God’s provision is so perfect.
We’ve gone over to the house every day since we closed to let the kids play in our back yard. The yard is fairly small, as they usually are in Plano, but I will never take it for granted. And oh the wonder of being able to load our kids in the car without having to trek down a huge flight of stairs and out across a parking lot! Not to mention being able to walk out to the curb to get our mail instead of having to walk up to the front office to unlock a little box. And the trees! We have trees of our own in the front and back yards! The kids have plenty of place to play inside, and now Chris and I get to make our own little area in the office. The kitchen is awesome and has a decent sized eat-in area. And don’t even get me started on the refrigerator I was able to pick out! It’s all just awesome. And we don’t have to live with white walls anymore, praise Jesus!
I’ll post pictures soon. We’ll be redoing a lot of the interior of the house to fit our style, so when I do post, consider the pictures as “before” pictures. In a year or so, I’ll post our “after” pictures.
The kids are doing really well. Amai will be turning 4 in May, which is astounding to me. We went to an informational meeting about a school we’re interested in for her and it was surreal to think that a year from now we’ll be registering her for kindergarten, which will start a year from this coming fall. I can’t believe that! She continues to amaze me as she has been trying to write the alphabet lately. The other day in the car she said, “Zebra. Does that start with a z?” When I said yes, I asked her if she knew how to spell it and she said, “Yes, it’s Z O K B A R.” She’s hilarious.
Ashe is doing well too. He’s starting to pick up more words now, which is just too fun. He’s a typical boy, so his words have been much fewer than Amai’s were at this age. The other day though, he said hi to the guy who rang us up at the grocery store without me prompting him to do it. He’s still just got such a darling personality- he is such a joyful little boy. I have really enjoyed being able to spend a little time alone with him on Tuesdays and Thursdays while Amai is at mother’s day out at our church.
Other than all of that, life is good. We’re tired from all the stress (good and bad) of buying this house, packing, moving, etc. Overall, I’m just so thankful for all that we’ve been blessed with. My cup runneth over.
